Decision Made on New Year’s First Film

December 30, 2008

It’s a done deal… Our January 9 release will be Grand Theft Dog.  With advertising already commenced, it only made sense.  The Times has covered the announcement and I’m sure that more ads will be rolling out soon.  In Feburary we’ll see the release of other films on deck, Syphon Filter and the secret Miracle Pictures comedy mentioned before.

Editing continues on GTD to beef it up from complete wackiness to wackiness with a direction.  We’ve tapped Brett Ratner to helm the thing, surprisingly his first job on HTG.  Parker Posey provides the voice for Amy the dog.  The producer of the film has always had a jones for Parker.  Rounding out the top 4 will be Hank Azaria, Amy Poehler and Tina Fey.

January 9 is going to the dogs.  Woof.

A Quick Check-In

December 28, 2008

JGraham’s western Obsession made it through its first week with great success.  I hear that movie watchers and critiques are all giving it their approval, so that’s good news for JG and the studio.

Miracle Pictures still hasn’t nailed down which film it has in holding will be released on January 9.  But of the three possible, only one has been advertised so far.  That would be Grand Theft Dog, which saw another mention on the message board on Friday.  However, if GTD would be set on the 9th, that would give the same producer releases for 4 weeks in a row (although not with this studio)!  Hmm.  Some careful thought will have to be done.

When It Rains…

December 19, 2008

JGraham’s western Obsession has opened, with good buzz from the HTG community.  I’m thinking the exerpt that he provided for Happening readers might have helped.

The next studio release on the calendar isn’t until the end of January… Lucian’s romance Peaches and Cream.  I have three solid candidates to place earlier in the month.  The problem is deciding which one gets what date.  Two of them are already edited, but the third’s run-through is going solidly.  The studio isn’t accustomed to such a bounty of films.  More thought will have to be given on what comes next.

Until then, Miracle Pictures hopes that HTG Hollywood enjoys Obsession.

Woof

It’s official.  Baseball Mogul Production’s video game farce Grand Theft Dog will be released by Miracle Pictures.  BM head Pedro agreed to the deal late last night, with a release date set some time in the early part of 2009.

BM to Bring GTD to MP?

December 8, 2008

Miracle Pictures is in talks to bring the Baseball Mogul comedy Grand Theft Dog to theatres through the studio.  Penned by Pedro, the farce follows the (mis)adventures of a dog named Amy as she travels the mean streets occupied by other intelligent dogs.  Keep an eye out on this blog to see what happens with the negotiations.

Script Turned In!

December 7, 2008

Exciting news… Kris Greet and studio head Marlowe are now going over the completed script for Syphon Filter.  Hopefully post-production will go smoothly enough to narrow down a release date quickly.

Colin Farrell and Maggie Q are slated to star as Gabriel Logan and Lian Xing, operatives of the International Presidential Consulting Agency.  More casting will be completed as time goes.

Video Game Adaptation Nearly Completed

December 6, 2008

Kris Greet informed us this afternoon that his initial work on Syphon Filter is complete.  Seeing that this has been a work in progress for more than two years, we’re very excited.  Post-production will be a calculated process, but we’re sure to see the film’s release in early 2009.

Something Different for 2009

December 3, 2008

Ship of Fooles and Miracle Pictures have struck a deal to bring Lucian’s Peaches and Cream to the big screen next year.  A two-part romance, the Ang Lee film features Beyonce Knowles, Allison Janney, Scott Thompson and Lucian himself.  This marks the second Romance movie for the studio, after Rotor’s 2006 hit A SoHo Affair.  Talks are underway for further cooperation between the two studio heads/producers.

December Updates

December 2, 2008

Mac’s new thriller, Five Came Back opens this Friday.  It’s an exciting time for the studio as we begin our holiday season (albeit a little later than others).  Word of mouth says that expectations are good for the film.  Being the only release this upcoming weekend, we’re confident that a large slice of the pie will be coming our way and moviegoers will give FCB hearty thumbs up.

With this out of the way, promotion for JGraham’s Obsession is expected to take off.  The western won’t be by itself that weekend.  But we feel that it will rise to the top of the viewing list.

Word on the studio lot has been that Miracle Pictures execurtives were tempted to purchase a third sound stage, allowing a third film to be released in a month.  But the urge to release a film on the crowded 26th has been shelved (for now).
